Color, brilliance, and hardness of a gemstone along with the style’s metal and setting are a few of the many factors kept in mind by SHW’s jewelry designer and gemologist Urte Tyaite when crafting a piece. We are truly fascinated by gemstones and love to talk about them with our clients. Each SHW team member apprentices and has a keen understanding of the gemological world.
Urte Tylaite’s expertise in gemology began with studying and receiving certification at the Gemological Institute of America, graduating with a degree in diamond grading. Shortly after, Urte launched SHW’s first collection of engagement rings in 2016 merging her diamond education with jewelry craftsmanship to debut one-of-a-kind rings set with natural and lab-grown white diamonds. As a result of our intimate design process, we also can handcraft any of our settings with a gemstone of your choice. For pieces that you are planning on wearing everyday we recommend diamonds, sapphires or rubies. We offer both ethically mined and lab-grown diamonds. In addition to colorless options, natural diamonds offer a variety of colors and complexities such as salt and pepper, cognac and champagne diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds can come in a multitude of different colors as well. Sapphires will range from light-greens, deep-blues to oranges and yellows and rubies fall on a spectrum of darkish to pinkish red. Beyond these options we work with all gemstones such as emeralds, aquamarines, garnets, tsavorites, heliodors and an endless variety going beyond what is listed on our website.
We will go out of our way to find you the highest quality options and prepare a grouping of stones for you to see curated to best visually and structurally fit the design you are considering.
